Over 19 Million Tons of Basic Goods Unloaded at Iranian Ports in 11 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 19,469,000 tons of basic goods were discharged at Iranian ports in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023 to February 22, 2024).

Wheat, barley, corn, soya, rice, sugar and vegetable oil, weighing 19,649,887 tons, were unloaded in the 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year, according to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Of total staples unloaded in Iranian ports from March 21, 2023, to February 22, 2024, corn and soya registered a 26 and a 17 percent growth respectively, the report added.

In this period, more than two million and one million tons of wheat and barley were unloaded in Iranian ports from March 21, 2023, to February 22, 2024, the ministry maintained, IRNA reported. 

In another report, the ministry noted that the loading and unloading operations in the container sector of Iranian ports registered a 4.3 percent growth in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to December 22, 2023) compared to last year’s corresponding period.

In this period, over one million TEUs were loaded and unloaded in the ports of the country in the container sector, the report added.
