Iran, Pakistan Eye Boosting Trade Exchanges Fivefold
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – High-ranking officials from Iran and Pakistan stressed increasing bilateral trade fivefold.
The trade exchanges between Iran and Pakistan exceeded $2 billion in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024), showing a 38-percent growth compared to a year before.
Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, who is the head of the Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, in a joint meeting with Pakistani officials emphasized boosting annual trade between the two countries to $10 billion.
According to the existing statistics, the trade exchanges between Iran and Pakistan increased from $1 billion in 2002 to more than $2 billion in the last Iranian calendar year, registering a 38 and a 23 percent in terms of value and volume respectively, IRNA reported.
Promoting the level of trade between the two countries, especially in the field of transportation, and also the development of infrastructures were put on the agenda as one of the fundamental principles of trade and economic activity during the bilateral meetings between Iran’s roads minister and his Pakistani counterpart which promises a considerable growth in bilateral trade activities.
Heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi paid an official visit to Pakistan on Monday morning.
