Iran’s National Security Council Denies Report of Emergency Meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Supreme National Security Council of Iran dismissed foreign media reports that it has held an emergency meeting on Friday morning.

The secretariat of the council denied stories released by a number of foreign media outlets that the council has held an emergency meeting on Friday morning in response to what the  foreigners allege was an aerial attack on Iran.

Speculation ran rampant on Friday morning that the Israeli regime has attacked a number of sites in Iran’s central province of Isfahan after a series of explosions were heard in the province.

Speaking to Tasnim, informed sources have dismissed the reports of any foreign attack on any location in Iran.

The sources said the air defense units in the central city of Isfahan and the northwestern city of Tabriz went into firing mode because of the high sensitivity of the air defense facilities in the current situation and “probably” because a number of micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) have been detected.

The nuclear facilities of Iran is Isfahan are safe and sound, the sources said.

The Zionist regime has ratcheted up the rhetoric of military action against Iran after Tehran carried out a retaliatory operation against the Israeli military targets inside the occupied territories in response to a fatal airstrike that Israel launched on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1.
