Iran’s Non-Oil Trade Up 11% in One Month: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s non-oil foreign trade in the 11th month of the current Iranian calendar year (January 22 to February 22, 2024) showed a 26% and an 11% hike in weight and value respectively compared to the same period last year, an official said.

Spokesman for the Trade Promotion and International Affairs of Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade Rouhollah Latifi said more than 14 million tons of non-oil products, valued at over $9 billion, were exchanged between Iran and other countries in the 11th month of the current Iranian calendar year, showing a 26.3% hike in weight and 11 percent in value respectively compared to the same period last year.

According to him, Iran exported more than 11 million tons of goods, valued at over $4 billion, from January 22 to February 22, 2024, indicating a 31% and 19.2% hike in weight and value respectively compared to the same period last year.

Latifi added that more than three million tons of goods, valued at more than $5 billion, were imported into the country, showing an 11.2 and 5.3 percent growth in weight and value respectively.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the spokesman referred to Iran’s first export target markets in the said period, saying they included China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India. 

He said China imported more than $1 billion of products from Iran in this period.

Latifi added that about two million tons of foreign goods were transited from the country between January 22 and February 22, 2024, which is considered as a record in the transit sector of the country in recent years, IRNA reported.

More than 16.2 million tons of foreign goods were transited from the country in the 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023, to February 22, 2024) which has been unprecedented, he added.
