Iran’s Export of Steel Products Up 5.1% in 10-Month Period: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chairman of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) said the export of steel products, including iron beam, rebar, angled iron and long steel sections, registered a 5.1 percent hike in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Bahram Sobhani stated that 153,000 tons of iron beam, 2,079 tons of rebar, 186,000 tons of angled iron and 2,418 tons of long steel sections were exported from the country between March 21, 2023, and January 22, 2024, showing a 5.1 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

In this period, the export of total flat steel sections showed a 7.6 percent growth in volume, he added, IRNA reported. 

Sobhani went on to say that more than 6,000 tons of semi-finished steel were exported from Iran in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year, registering a 7.7 percent hike compared to the same period last year.

The official further noted that Iran exported $3.60 million worth of sponge iron between March 21, 2023, and January 22, 2024, registering a 109.9 percent hike compared to the same period last year.
