Hozeh Honari to Showcase Six Films at 42nd Fajr Film Festival
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – From the gripping war saga of "Western Sky" to the teenage escapades in "Kianoush Garden," Hozeh Honari's presence at the 42nd Fajr Film Festival promises a cinematic journey through varied genres, showcasing the depth and diversity of Iranian filmmaking.
Amir Abbas Rabiei's "Ahmad," produced by Habib Wali Nejad, competes in the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival. Jointly created by City Image Institute and Soureh Film Organization, the film recounts the untold story of the first 18 hours of the Bam earthquake, coinciding with its 20th anniversary. Theater artist Tino Salehi plays Shahid Kazemi.
Mohammad Asgari's "Western Sky," a war film produced by Farabi Cinema Foundation and Soureh Cinema Organization with the participation of the Iranian Army, portrays the bravery of martyred pilot Ali Akbar Shiroudi. Filmed in Kermanshah province, the movie stars Milad Keimaram as Martyr Shiroudi.
Behrouz Afkhami's "Execution Morning," produced by Ali Shirmohammadi, delves into the final moments of Tayyab Haj Rezaei and Ismail Rezaei, sentenced to death after the June 15, 1963 uprising. Adapted from a Kayhan newspaper report, the film unfolds between 5 and 6:30 in the morning.
Reza Keshavarz Haddad's "Kianoush Garden," part of the New Look section, explores teenage adventures in the 1980-1990 era. A joint production of Soureh Film Club and the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents, the film adapts a book of the same name.
Gurban Ali Taherfar's "Projectionist," in the First Films section, narrates the story of a building painter passionate about cinema. The film, a free adaptation of Ruhollah Rashidi's book, is a collaborative effort by Farabi Cinema Foundation, Soureh Cinema Organization, and "Mah" Cinema School of Thought and Art, produced by Sajjad Nasrallahi.
The latest work of Soureh Animation Center, "Dream City," produced by Mostafa Hassanabadi and directed by Mohsen Enayati, features the adventure of a boy named Arat. The animation, focusing on the future, is the third production of Soureh Animation Center.
The 42nd Fajr Film Festival, slated for February 1-11, 2024, will kick off its 10-day celebration of cinematic excellence on January 31. Since 2015, the festival has followed a distinctive format, hosting competitions in both national and international categories.
