Iran’s Top Banker in Morocco for IMF, WBG Meetings
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Mohammad Reza Farzin has traveled to Morocco to attend the World Bank Group-International Monetary Fund annual meetings.
The top Iranian banker will meet senior managers of the IMF, a number of governors of the central banks of the regional countries, and the BRICS officials on the sidelines of the event regarding the promotion of monetary and banking cooperation.
The annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) kicked off in Morocco on October 9 and will run until October 15.
The Boards of Governors of the IMF and WBG normally meet once a year to discuss the work of their respective institutions. The annual meetings, which generally take place in September or October, have customarily been held in Washington, D.C., for two consecutive years and in another member country in the third year.
The meetings bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, civil society, media and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, global financial stability, poverty eradication, inclusive economic growth and job creation, climate change, and others.
