Iran, Africa Trade on Upward Trajectory: Labor Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s minister of labor, cooperatives and social welfare said that the level of trade and economic exchanges between Iran and the African continent is significantly growing.

Speaking in a meeting with Burkinabè Foreign Minister Olivia Rouamba in Tehran on Tuesday, Seyed Sowlat Mortazavi, who is also the head of the Iran-Burkina Faso Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, emphasized that trade ties between Iran and Africa are on an upward trajectory.

Developing multilateral cooperation between Iran and Burkina Faso in various technical and industrial fields, technical-engineering services, energy, technical and vocational training, infrastructural projects, processing-intermediate industries, chemical products, iron, steel and social supports were emphasized by the two sides during the meeting.

Iran’s Ministry of Labor, Cooperatives and Social Welfare enjoys diversified export capacities, Mortazavi said, adding that effective measures should be taken to enhance the level of exports to Burkina Faso.

Given the establishment of expert-level commissions, suitable ways have been paved for the two countries to hold joint economic cooperation commissions, the labor minister emphasized.

He pointed to the recent visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to some African countries and reiterated that the level of trade exchanges between Iran and the African continent is growing.

The foreign minister of Burkina Faso, for her part, said that activation of the joint economic cooperation commission between Iran and Burkina Faso will help facilitate and accelerate the exchange of mutual capabilities and potentials.

Iran’s valuable experiences especially in the fields of ‘skill training, ‘children and the elderly’ can help Burkina Faso boost its activities in the relevant field, Olivia Rouamba emphasized.

Iran and Burkina Faso enjoy high potential to cooperate in the fields of defense industries, transportation, building construction, steel, tourism, agriculture and petrochemical sectors, she added.
