INSTC Project Launched after Years of Hiatus: IRISL CEO

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In addition to registering historical records of freight transportation, the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) in the administration embarked on launching direct shipping lines to Venezuela, Africa and Syria and operating the Int'l North-South Transport Corridor.

This is according to Chief Executive of the IRISL Mohammad Reza Modaress Khiyabani speaking on Wednesday. 

He emphasized that the International North-South Transport Corridor became operational in the current administration and is a source of pride for the IRISL.

Elaborating on the performance of the company, he said that in addition to registering the historical records of cargo transportation which is unprecedented in the history of the shipping group, the IRISL managed to play a leading role in the field of meeting basic and fundamental needs of people and domestic producers by transporting imported and exporting products from and to countries around the world.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Modaress Khiyabani pointed to the recommendations of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on focusing on the sea-based economy and the necessity of paying due attention to the high potentials and capabilities of Iran’s economy in the field of transporting maritime cargo, and stated that the IRISL, which burdens the heavy responsibility of transporting both imported and exported goods to various destinations of the world, has taken effective steps in this regard.

In addition to developing its transportation fleet and equipping itself with different types of vessels, containers and wagons, the IRISL has taken giant strides in offering quality services to traders, he went on to say.
