First Ship Carrying LPG Berths at Abadan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – With the failure of cruel US sanctions against Iran and the country’s successs in boosting gas exports, the first consignment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was loaded at Dock No. 7 of Abadan Oil Refinery on Friday.

For the first time in the 110-year history of the Abadan Oil Refinery, a ship carrying LPG berthed at Dock No. 7 of the refinery.

The refinery will receive LPG for transferring from Arvand international waterway, CEO of Abadan Oil Refinery Hakim Qhayem announced.

Speaking on the sidelines of the loading of this shipment, he said that the refinerty's access to free waters has always been considered an advantage but the eight years of the Sacred Defense (Iraqi imposed war against Iran in 1980-1988) had completely destroyed the export infrastructures of the refinery.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qhayem pointed to the production of more than 25 percent of the country’s refinery products at this refinery and said there are plans for selling the surplus products at the international markets along with meeting the demands of the country.

“It is hoped that the noble people of Abadan and Khorramshahr would benefit from the blessings of this giant development.”
